Using another device or a backup passkey
In the browser’s sign-in prompt, choose the option to use a phone or tablet, then scan the QR code with a device that has your registered passkey. Keep the devices nearby and Bluetooth enabled.
To use a registered security key, choose the security-key option, connect the key and follow the prompts to enter its PIN and touch it.
Most users can start with one passkey saved in Apple Passwords, Google Password Manager or another password manager. The provider may restore your passkeys if you lose a device. Recovery depends on its account settings and verification requirements.
Additional passkeys are optional. In Security, you can add and test a backup passkey or save a recovery code. Keep a backup separately from your usual device. Devices sharing a synced passkey depend on the same provider account.
Platform administrators must keep a separately stored, tested backup hardware key. This is the administrator’s responsibility.
If you cannot sign in, choose Help on the Sign in panel and see Recovery options for provider recovery, a saved recovery code or recovery assistance.
